Materials:
- one copy webster's dictionary first edition (or any similar dictionary provided partner has same one)
- piece of paper to write stuff down
- pencil
- fibonacci sequence
Explanation:
okay, so, basically you take the Fibonacci sequence (0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, etc), and you translate it to numbers in a sequence for each number in the Fibonacci sequence (0=1, 1=2, 1=3, 2=4, 3=5, 5=6, etc).
after that, you take a page in the dictionary, find a word on it, and take down the page number and which word it is on the page (like for example, the 17th word).
then you start constructing the code. you would write down 23, and using that you can find the page. you translate 23 into the 23rd number of the Fibonacci sequence, and that number is the page number you need.
now you might be thinking that it's pretty inaccurate, and the Fibonacci sequence skips a bunch of numbers. well, if you add a period, that symbolizes an addition symbol (keep in mind, this is supposed to be cryptic). so 23.7 would be the 23rd number in the Fibonacci sequence plus the 7th number in the Fibonacci sequence. Using this period as an addition symbol can give you exact numbers, and they can obviously be stacked (ie. 23.7.5.8).
Now to find the number, you use the exact same code, but this time right beside the original number, within square brackets. so 23.5.7[12.1] would be one word. Since this is a code based on words instead of individual letters, it's harder to crack, because the most commonly used way to crack codes. This way is finding the most common symbol or number used in the code, and immediately assume it is the letter 'e' because e is the most commonly used letter in the English language. working from this, most codes can be broken. Please note that the square brackets can be replaced with any symbol, whether more or less conspicuous, so long as it differentiates the first set of numbers from the second.
This code however uses direct words, and generally requires similar copies of the same dictionary to break, so it is much much harder to break.
